Frequently Asked Questions

Our style is called Sho-Kushin.  It is a very effective style when used in self defense situations.  We relate our material to real-world scenarios so you understand how these techniques work in everyday life.  You can find out more on the "Our Style" page.

Just come to class and speak with an instructor.  We will give you a class handbook and get you signed up.  It's just that simple!

Yes!  You are more than welcome to just sit and observe a class before you sign up.  We are happy to explain class procedures to you and answer any questions you may have.

We recommend wearing anything that you are comfortable working out in.  Most beginners wear a t-shirt with jogging/sweat pants or shorts.

You will be given a student handbook which covers class rules, procedures, pricing, and more.  You will warm up with the rest of the class.  After that, you will begin learning your basic stances and blocks.  There is no need to be nervous.  Everyone is friendly and helpful.  We were all beginners once!

You can purchase a uniform (Gi) at any time.  Gi's are designed to allow for a full range of motion, and are made to withstand years of training.  Your first gi will include your white belt.
